Outpatient Services at Salt Lake Behavioral Health

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) offer intensive services for individuals who need a higher level of care and more support than traditional weekly therapy, while still allowing the maintenance of work and home life. At Salt Lake Behavioral Health, compassionate and highly trained therapists focus on the whole person.

Groups meet with therapists three times per week for healing, guidance and support. In addition, IOP patients have the option to see a psychiatric or addiction provider who can help them manage medications.

At Salt Lake Behavioral Health, we offer three distinct tracks for IOP: mental health, addiction, and trauma.

Program Features:

  • Daytime and evening schedules available
  • Hot meals provided
  • Affordable transportation options (offered within Salt Lake County)
  • Medication management provided
  • Free lifetime weekly alumni group for ongoing support

Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program Track

The Mental Health IOP track at Salt Lake Behavioral Health is designed for those dealing with symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and various personality disorders. With extra support, patients can build coping techniques, learn communication skills, and gain new perspectives on their conditions.

Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program Track

The Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program Track at Salt Lake Behavioral Health is ideal as a step-down program for those exiting inpatient rehabilitation programs, or as a next step for those needing additional sober support in their recovery. The program offers psychoeducation on addiction and the brain, relapse prevention planning, and strategies for long-term sobriety.

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Track

The Adolescent IOP program at Salt Lake Behavioral Health includes intensive comprehensive group therapy based on the evidence-based practices of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The program also includes life skills training, family involvement and medication management. The program is designed for teens aged 13-17 facing mental health or addiction challenges that require more intensive treatment than weekly outpatient therapy. IOP can also be a great transitional step after inpatient care.

Trauma Intensive Outpatient Program Track

The Trauma Intensive Outpatient Program Track at Salt Lake Behavioral Health is ideal for patients who have experienced traumatic backgrounds or events. This track is only offered during the day, and requires pre-screening by one of our clinicians to ensure the patient is stable and ready to do trauma work. This program utilizes Cognitive Processing Therapy to help the patient work through “stuck points” related to their traumas, and develop appropriate coping skills to reduce and better manage trauma reactions and symptoms.
